Serious Steps Life Coaching is committed to protecting your privacy and your personal information.  Your trust in me and the privacy of your information is very important to me. I am committed to handling any personal information I receive from you in a fair, transparent, and reasonable manner, and in compliance with applicable privacy legislation.

For the benefit of current and future clients, here are my practices and policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information:

• ​Any information which relates to you and identifies you - such as your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number - will be considered personal information.​

• I only have access to / collect information that you voluntarily give me via e-mail, website-related or other direct contact from you. I will not sell or rent this information to anyone.​

• I will collect personal information from you on a need-to-know basis only.​

• The purposes for which I collect your personal information is to communicate with you via e-mail or telephone or live chat, to provide coaching services or products (i.e., digital downloads, website subscription services) to you, or other promotional offers to you.  I will not use any of your personal information to send you marketing-related communications, unless you specifically and explicitly consent for me to do so.  You may opt out of any Serious Steps Life Coaching future or marketing-related communications from me at any time by contacting me via the e-mail address given on this website, by unsubscribing, or through any other direct contact with me.

• Serious Steps Life Coaching provides paid products or services within the website.  I use PayPal for payment processing.  I do not store or collect your payment card details.  You provide your payment details directly to PayPal and their use of your personal and payment information is governed by their own privacy policy.  Click here to see PayPal's privacy policy.​​

• I will not use your personal information for any other specific purpose unless I have your written consent to do so.  ​

• Your personal information and anything else you disclose to me will be treated as confidential and will not be provided to any other parties without your knowledge and express written permission, except as required by law. However, please note that there are some situations in which I am legally obligated to disclose information to protect you or others from harm, such as:

  • Court order or subpoena.

  • If I have information that indicates that a child or elderly or disabled person is being abused, I must report that to the appropriate authority.

  • If you are imminent risk to yourself, or you make threats of violence against another person, I am required to contact the appropriate authorities so that protective action may be taken.

• I use several safeguards, appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, to protect personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure or copying. Such safeguards include anti-virus and anti-malware software, firewall protection, locked filing cabinets, and the use of passwords and encryption.  However, please note that no safeguard is 100% guaranteed, therefore I cannot guarantee the security of your information. ​

• Personal information that is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was gathered will be destroyed, erased, or rendered anonymous.

• I request that you do not send me written communications that you feel are particularly sensitive in nature.  If you feel a concern about sending me such information in writing, please do not send it. ​​

• I may use 3rd party web analytic tools to analyze website traffic, so that I can improve / create new coaching services or products. 

• I provide links on the Serious Steps Life Coaching website to other websites which I do not operate.   If you click on one of these links, you will be taken directly to that site which is governed by its own privacy policy. I do not control any other websites and I assume no responsibility their content, policies, or its practices.​

• I will provide a copy of the personal information I have about you upon your written request.  I will correct inaccurate personal data upon your written notification.  I will keep your personal information (i.e., your name, contact details, payments made to Serious Steps Life Coaching) for a reasonable period to comply with legal or audit / taxation purposes.  Any other information you have provided to me will be deleted / destroyed upon your written request.   

• This website is operated in Canada. If you are in another country, please know that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in Canada. By using this site and providing us with information, you consent to this transfer, processing, and storage of your information in Canada.  It is important to note that privacy laws in Canada may not be as comprehensive as those in other countries such as the European Union. ​

• All material on this website is copyright of Serious Steps Life Coaching and may not be reproduced elsewhere in any way without explicit written permission.​

• I reserve the right to change this privacy policy because of legal compliance requirements or changes in my business practices. Please re-visit this Privacy Policy page occasionally for any posted changes or updates.
